Nusa Dua: calm beaches, water sports and resort life
Planned as a resort enclave in the 1970s, Nusa Dua offers Bali's calmest swimming beaches, the Water Blow, Tanjung Benoa water sports and easy access to GWK. Ideal for families and conferences.

Nusa Dua sits on the southeast coast of the Bukit peninsula, around 20–30 minutes from the airport. It was developed as a planned resort area — today managed by the state tourism company ITDC — with large hotels set in gardens along a reef-protected coast.
Why people choose Nusa Dua
- Calm water: an outer reef breaks the waves, so the beaches are gentle and good for children, especially at high tide.
- Clean and quiet: the enclave is gated, with walking paths along the shore.
- Conferences: international summits and events are often held here.
- Easy day trips to Uluwatu, Jimbaran and Tanjung Benoa.
Things to do
Water Blow
At the edge of the Peninsula Island park, waves funnel into a narrow limestone crevice and explode upward in huge sprays — most dramatic at high tide with a big swell. Free and close to the hotels. Stay behind the barriers.
Geger Beach and Pura Geger
A wide white-sand beach with seaweed farmers working the shallows at low tide, and a small clifftop temple with views along the coast.
Tanjung Benoa water sports
Just north of Nusa Dua, the lagoon of Tanjung Benoa is Bali's water-sport hub: parasailing, jet ski, banana boat, flying fish, sea walking and glass-bottom boats to Turtle Island. Our Tanjung Benoa water sport package includes hotel transfer and reputable operators.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK)
A cultural park in Ungasan, 20 minutes away, with one of the world's tallest statues — Vishnu riding the mythical bird Garuda — plus daily dance performances. It's included in our GWK & Nusa Dua tour.
Museum Pasifika
A quiet art museum with works from Indonesia and Pacific cultures, including European painters who lived in Bali.
Sunset dinner cruise
Benoa Harbour is the departure point for dinner cruises with views of the coast at sunset — see our sunset dinner cruise.
Food
The enclave has hotel restaurants and the Bali Collection shopping centre. For local food at local prices, head to warungs just outside the gates in Bualu or to Jimbaran for seafood.
Tips
- Swim at high tide; at low tide the lagoon can be very shallow with coral and seaweed.
- Wear reef shoes in the shallows.
- Sun is strong — reapply sunscreen and drink plenty of water.
- Traffic to Kuta and Seminyak passes the Bali Mandara toll road; drivers include toll fees on our tours.
